Goin' to the chapel (and we already got married): Getting Ready

Hey there!

Last night's Death Cab show was awesome. They played all of our favorite songs plus some new ones, and we're looking forward to eventually buying their new album. Our seats were great! There was a standing section right in front of the stage, but my mom knows how I am and bought us tickets for the first row of the seated section. There was a leg bar for our feet (mine could barely reach, but still) and it was really roomy. Plus there was no one standing or sitting directly in front of us. We were also sitting really near one of the huge LCD screens, so we got lots of nice close up action on my BFF Ben.

 The venue was a really cool/huge amphitheater surrounded by grass and trees.

This tree looked fake, but I tasted it to confirm that it was real (not a joke).

 As you can see, the scenery was really pretty. It was like a concert in the forest (a really well manicured, perfect, bug-less forest).

 We had a convenient foot rail and great view of the stage from our seats.

The opening band was called Frightened Rabbit. They're from Scotland, so I loved them.

He spent lots of time flinging his hair around and getting sweaty. But it sounded awesome!

In other news, Jack went to the vet today and they're pretty sure he has ringworm or some other fungal infection. I also have a spot that looks like it might be ringworm, so that sucks pretty bad. We had to buy a really smelly sulfur and lime shampoo to dip both the pets in. Have you ever washed a cat? I'm taking suggestions on how best to go about that. Vets are really expensive, and all in all it will probably cost us $100 after the follow up visit in two weeks. There goes my Six Flags budget:[

Also, Jack's photo shoot for the Red Bandanna Pet Foods contest was supposed to be tomorrow. Ringworm (and other fungal infections) are very easy to transfer, so we called and let the photographer know that it probably wouldn't be safe for the other dogs to have Jack there. SAD. We did get invited to the lake tomorrow by Thomas' work friends, which I am very much looking forward to. It should be lots of fun! Maybe it was meant to be.

Today's wedding recap post will feature the 'getting ready' photos. I'm going to break down the wedding into a series of days, so that way I can show lots of pictures without it seeming as overwhelming. I'm not going to comment on each picture today, because the pro pictures so good that they stand alone. The ones of me getting ready are mostly black and white because the lighting in the hotel room was absolutely terrible. Our poor photographers didn't have a lot to work with as far as that went, so they gave us black and white options because they look better. Goin' to the chapel (and we already got married): Bridal Shower & Bridesmaid's Lunch Recaps

Things I've accomplished today:

1. Making myself a sandwich. Usually Thomas does this for me because his taste better.

2. Dusting, vacuuming, and picking up the whole house.

3. Pet MDing some weird scab things around Jack's mouth. Either he has mange again, or I'm paranoid (possibly both).

4. Applying for [another] job at Georgia Tech.

5. Thinking about going and buying a tart pan for an amazing recipe I'm going to be making Friday. Look forward to the recipe!

6. And most importantly, figuring out how to tie my hair up into a bun thing using no hair tie. True talent.

Tomorrow is the Death Cab show! I'm suuuuper excited. The show starts at 8:00, but we're going to leave pretty early since the venue is around 30 minutes away. It just so happens that Death Cab's front man, Ben Gibbard, is married to my other favorite person, Zooey Deschanel. I may or may not be bringing this sign to the show:

Just kidding. Mostly.

As promised, today begins the sequence of wedding recap posts! Exciting stuff. I'll start with the recap from the bridal shower and then show you a few pictures of the bridesmaid's lunch, just to warm you up and get you in wedding mode!

My shower was thrown by my mom's friend Karla. She has great taste and a beautiful house, so I knew it would be awesome. It definitely was. Here are some of the highlights and cutest details:

For the Bridesmaid's Lunch, we went to a local girly cafe and bakery called Sugarbaker's. They have great desserts, all of which they home make every day. After lunch, we all went to see Bridesmaid's (how appropriate) and it was super funny/inappropriate.

I had to photograph these cute little bags. Each girl got a different color that represented their personality (not really. But it sounded good).

I always take pictures of Lauren drinking. I don't know why, but I like it.

Janie was also drinking, but to her credit, I snuck up on her.

And BAM, there's Gracie making an awesome face.

This is literally the only proof that I was there.

 These were our desserts. My favorite was the chocolate cake on the left.

 Present time! They could hardly wait to tear into them.

Each of my ladies got a necklace and pair of earrings from Dogeared. I wore the same ones, because I loved them THAT much.

We didn't take pictures of the movie (because it was a movie), so that's all I have of the Bridesmaid's Lunch. Tomorrow we're recapping the Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner!

I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T do you know what that means?!

Today I became an independent woman. Basically, Thomas went to work. This is the longest we've been apart since we got married I think, which is kind of ridiculous but also kind of awesome. So, he left for work this morning at like 8:30. While I stayed asleep:] Except that at around 9:30, someone started profusely banging on the door. It was the paint guy! Who apparently didn't realize that for the last week, we've been leaving the back door open for them in the morning so they can get in without bothering us. But hey, I was awake.

So I began the day (aka sat down on the couch to surf the Interweb) and immediately noticed that the AC was again not working. Gah. I was fully prepared to sit there with two fans pointing at me allll day long, but Thomas decided he should call and explain to me how to fix it. Shocker: I actually fixed it by myself. It was pretty easy, and it was the classic "ants in the contactor" once again. Those crazy ants.

After doing some little household chores, I decided to make a trip to the post office to pick up a registered letter from my parents that I missed the delivery on yesterday. We have a post office like a quarter mile from our house, so I was all "oh how convenient it's right on the way to Walmart!" Sike. I waited in line for 15 minutes only to discover that it was the wrong post office. My actual post office is of course about 5 miles away. How it makes sense that my post office isn't the one nearest me I still don't know, but alas. I headed towards the 'right' post office, and realized that Walmart was on the way to IT. So, I stopped in and did my shopping. 

Now, I know this might seem ridiculous, but I pretty much never ever shop alone. I've always either been with Thomas, my mom, or a friend. Today I stepped into the big girl world and did it all by myself! I made good time and then booked it over to the post office where I waited around 20 minutes for them to fetch my package. The climactic part is that my parents sent me tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie, one of my favorite bands since forever! I haven't seen any bands I know/liked live, so we're both SUPER excited to see them in August! Thanks mom and dad:]

And finally, today the back room got a lovely coat of Sage Bud. It looks so much better. It's pretty unbelievable. When I took these pictures, the paint was still wet, so you can see some of the long roller strokes. It already looks awesome though!

 The light in this room is really bad, partially because of the time of day but mostly because it's at the back of the house. Tomorrow we're having a ceiling fan installed and we're going to add a lamp or two.
